What is the Poderosas Fellowship?
The Poderosas (Powerful) Fellowship is a $25,000 annual investment established in honor of LEF Co-founder Aixa Beauchamp and the many Latinas whose leadership has shaped the success of the Latino Equity Fund. The fellowship is designed to empower Latinas—including cisgender women, transgender women, and gender-diverse individuals who identify with the Latina experience—currently serving in development, advancement, or philanthropic roles.
With dedicated funding and tailored professional development, Poderosas will equip emerging Latina leaders with the skills, resources, and networks needed to thrive. Poderosas will gain exclusive access to mentorship, a $5,000 professional development stipend and strategic connections that open doors to new possibilities.
We envision the fellowship evolving over time, expanding access to more individuals while fostering a strong alumni network that remains actively engaged with The Latino Equity Fund, The Boston Foundation and its community partners.
Poderosas will join a powerful community of change agents committed to reshaping the future of philanthropy—because when diverse voices lead, impact follows.
Who Is Eligible?
The Poderosas Fellowship is open to all Latinas, including cisgender women, transgender women, and gender-diverse individuals who identify with the Latina experience, who are either:
- Currently serving in a mid-level development, advancement, or philanthropic role at a Massachusetts based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, or
- Are an executive director leading an organization with an operational budget of less than $1.5 million.
How to Apply
The Poderosas Fellowship application features a streamlined intake process. To start your application send a Letter of Interest answering this year’s prompt (See: Apply Now at the top of the page) and your resume to Javier.juarez@tbf.org.
Applications will be carefully reviewed by a diverse community selection team composed of LEF advisory board members and key community partners. All reviewers will complete a conflict-of-interest disclosure form to ensure a fair and equitable process. Should a conflict of interest arise, these individuals will not participate in this portion of the review process.
Finalists will be chosen through a deliberative process led by the LEF advisory board, with final selections presented by the director. In its inaugural year, LEF will award five fellows $5,000 each, totaling $25,000. These stipends are intended to support professional development opportunities that strengthen leadership and advance one's career in philanthropy. We encourage applications from Afro-Latinas, Indigenous Latinas, transgender and nonbinary Latinas, and Latinas with intersecting marginalized identities.
Deadline for Applications is June 13. Award decisions will be announced by June 30.
