The M. Lee Pelton Fund for Community Impact
During his tenure, Lee Pelton deepened the Boston Foundation’s relationships with nonprofit partners, centered community voice in grantmaking, and championed the leaders who make Greater Boston stronger—always guided by his commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities.
To honor this legacy and his service as President and CEO of the Boston Foundation from 2021 to 2026, the Board of Directors established the M. Lee Pelton Fund for Community Impact, an endowed field of interest fund dedicated to continuing Lee's commitment across Greater Boston through both active grantmaking and the periodic recognition of outstanding nonprofit leaders.
The Fund will do two things:
- Provide grantmaking dollars to support nonprofit organizations and initiatives that reflect Lee’s vision of community-centered change, with a focus on empowering residents, strengthening local networks, and fostering lasting, community-driven solutions;
- And underwrite the Lee Pelton Award for Advocacy and Impact, awarded periodically to a Greater Boston-area nonprofit leader who has distinguished themself through an impactful career.
