About the Latino Equity Fund
The Latino Equity Fund (LEF) at the Boston Foundation is the first and only community fund in Massachusetts dedicated to activating, convening, and supporting the Latinx community in Greater Boston and across the Commonwealth. The Latino Equity Fund supports community-based organizations that are tackling socio-economic issues to help Massachusetts' Latinos to thrive. Recent data highlights Latinos' persistent economic barriers and their increasing difficulties in obtaining health services. Investments in these areas promote wealth-building pathways and economic empowerment by reducing emergency expenses. Addressing these issues helps Latinos see stability and opportunity for themselves and their families in Massachusetts.
About this Application Cycle
For the FY27 grant cycle, LEF is committing $500,000 to support Latinx-serving 501(c)3 organizations across Greater Boston. LEF will award one-time, $50,000 general operating grants to 10 Latinx-serving nonprofit organizations within the Boston Foundation’s catchment area. LEF seeks proposals from community-based nonprofits providing access to trusted community health services and advancing equitable economic opportunities for Latinx residents in the following priority areas:
- Trusted Community Health Care Access
- Health Care Access
Eligible activities may include: free mobile clinics, free primary care, vaccination drives, health insurance support, and medical bill negotiation
- Health Care Access
- Equitable Economic Opportunities
- ESOL
- Professional credentialing
Eligible activities may include: college readiness, credentialing programs, apprenticeships, trades, credential verification, HiSET support, career development, and assistance with work authorization renewal - Entrepreneurial support
Eligible activities may include: culturally competent business training, technical assistance, innovation space, and legal business support
Please note that the Safety Net Grants program and the Latino Equity Fund are running concurrent cycles, and we strongly encourage you to select the program that best fits your organization.
The focus areas of Safety Net Grants are: food security; health care, mental health, and behavioral health access; direct cash assistance; and housing stabilization.
While we’ve worked to simplify the application process, we recognize and deeply value the time it takes to prepare and submit a request. We encourage you to carefully review our funding priorities and eligibility information to ensure alignment before applying.

Note: FY26 LEF grant recipients are not eligible to submit a proposal for funding in this cycle, but will be eligible again in our next cycle.

Geographic Funding Areas
The Latino Equity Fund funds within the Boston Foundation’s catchment area which includes:
- Essex County
- Middlesex County
- Suffolk County
- Plymouth County
- Norfolk County
Priority consideration is given to nonprofits located in the 13 cities and towns identified by the Latino Equity Fund as Latinx hubs. These communities include: Boston, Brockton, Chelsea, Framingham, Haverhill, Lawrence, Lowell, Lynn, Methuen, Revere, Saugus, Salem and Waltham. LEF may also give such consideration to organizations that are based elsewhere in the priority geographic area and propose introducing programming or services in one or more of these 13 communities, especially Lawrence and Boston.
The Latino Equity Fund aims to support truly local organizations. Accordingly, an applicant must:
- Have an organizational budget below $5 million in the current fiscal year
- Be headquartered in the geographic areas listed above
- Provide the majority of its services in the geographic areas listed above
- Not maintain offices or provide services outside Massachusetts
- Not be regional, national, or international (even if based locally)
- Not be a local office/affiliate of a regional or national organization, unless it has its own EIN
All funding requests should focus exclusively on operations within geographic areas listed above.
This RFP is not currently considering requests related to the causes below, although we recognize their value and importance.
- The arts (including dance, music, and theater)
- The preservation of land or historic buildings
- Animal welfare (Please consider the Felicia Rose Grant Program)
- Research
