Better Together: The Boston Foundation 2018 Annual Meeting
TBF News Winter 2019
The Boston Foundation released its 2018 annual report, titled Better Together, at our Annual Meeting, which attracted some 350 guests. What could be nicer than gathering with a few hundred friends, united by the goal of making Greater Boston better? Well, music!
To celebrate Live Arts Boston (LAB), our groundbreaking performing arts grant-making program in partnership with the Barr Foundation, the Annual Meeting was graced by four performances. Representing the broad creative diversity of LAB’s musical grantees were:
- Veronica Robles and the first all-female Mariachi band in Boston;
- Hip-hop recording artist and composer Billy Dean Thomas, aka The Queer B.I.G.;
- Grammy-nominated musician, singer, instrumentalist and composer Mehmet Ali Sanlikol; and
- Award-winning singer-songwriter Ruby Rose Fox.
Each brought their unique and powerful arrangements to the stage in the Edgerley Center for Civic Leadership. They rocked it. Guests may have even spotted unlikely people dancing. LAB considers the full range of performing arts, from all kinds of music to circus arts, spoken word, theater, puppetry, dance and combinations of the above!
