Pathways to Opportunity: Boosting College Enrollment and Completion of Boston Public Schools Graduates
Wednesday, September 30, 2026
At Pathways to Opportunity: Boosting College Enrollment and Completion of Boston Public Schools Graduates, education and civic leaders came together to examine the latest data on college enrollment and completion among Boston Public Schools (BPS) graduates and discuss how to help more students succeed after high school. Building on findings from the Foundation’s report, Persisting Through the Pandemic and Beyond, speakers highlighted both encouraging progress and persistent challenges facing Boston students.
While college enrollment and completion rates have stabilized following pandemic-era declines, gaps remain. Throughout the discussion, speakers stressed that improving outcomes requires more than helping students get into college. Students must also have access to the academic, financial, social, and career supports needed to persist and graduate.
Speakers agreed that no single institution can solve these challenges alone. By working together to expand opportunities, remove barriers, and provide coordinated support, Boston has an opportunity to create stronger, more equitable pathways that help every student succeed in college, careers, and life.
