¡Somos Más! Latino Civic Engagement in Massachusetts

October 5, 2026

The release of ¡Somos Más!: Latino Civic Engagement in Massachusetts brought together researchers, civic leaders, elected officials, and community advocates to examine the growing influence of Latino voters across the Commonwealth and the opportunities to strengthen Latino civic participation. Presenters highlighted significant growth in the Latino electorate, as well as the persistent gaps between voter registration and turnout. The research findings showed both the political power of Massachusetts’ Latino community and the structural barriers that continue to limit their participation.

Panelists explored the role of civic engagement, grassroots organizing, language access, leadership development, and community-based organizations in building trust and encouraging participation. The conversation concluded with a call for sustained investment in civic infrastructure, stronger support for Latino-serving organizations, and collective action to ensure that the Commonwealth’s growing Latino population is fully represented in democratic processes.
