Making Waves: The State of the Massachusetts AAPI Arts and Culture Sector
June 17, 2025
Making Waves: The State of the Massachusetts AAPI Arts and Culture Sectorbrings together the results of a statewide survey of 150 AAPI artists and creative professionals, 1-on-1 interviews, and listening sessions to highlight the strengths, challenges and opportunities perceived for the sector. In addition to recommendations for the continued strengthening of the sector, the report also includes never-before-seen inventories of 242 AAPI-centric arts organizations and 104 recurring Asian cultural festivals and events throughout Massachusetts. The first-of-its-kind report marks a significant milestone in enhancing the visibility of AAPI artists and cultural organizations, while presenting recommendations to share more representative and empowering AAPI narratives.
The report and inventories were compiled by the AAPI Arts and Culture Collaborative, an initiative of the Asian Community Fund at the Boston Foundation, in partnership with Diversity North, a woman-owned, specialized consulting business focused on researching and sharing practical, management, and information-based solutions. The inventories will be updated on a regular basis.
The report release was accompanied by a panel discussion and performances at a release event on June 17, 2025. To learn more about the AAPI Arts and Culture Collaborative, please visit their webpage.
