The four years since the first “Passion and Purpose” evaluation of the Massachusetts nonprofit sector have featured the worst recession in decades. But while the public and private sectors cut back, the nonprofit sector has grown. However, do the numbers tell the whole story? This report looks at the health of Massachusetts nonprofits and their response during the economic downturn, and offers ideas that could help ensure the strength and viability of the sector for the next decade.
