Sam Hain Memorial Scholarship Fund

Sam HainSam Hain passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, from the effects of Muscular Dystrophy. He was 24. The son of Stephen Hain and Rebekah (Bogage) Hain, Sam leaves behind his brothers Jakob and Ari and his sister Izi, as well as cousins Elana and Alexandra Hain, uncles Alan Hain, Micah Bogage, Josh Bogage, and Sandy Bogage, aunt Lisa Hain, and grandparents Richard & Rosalyn Siegel, Judy & Lewis Bogage.

Sam attended Winthrop High School and then studied Communications and Media Studies at Emerson College in Boston.

He had a great group of friends who adored, supported and kept in touch with him; they were so very important, and his family is forever grateful for their friendship.

Sam had various hobbies, which he pursued as his health allowed: video & computer games; photography; music - piano and recitals for many years, while he was able, and he experimented with various synthesizers; school chorus, band, and drama club (where he operated sound and light boards).

His other interests included: movies - for college and personal entertainment; books, especially science fiction; and food. Sam loved to discuss movies and books, and he followed and discussed current events and politics.

We feel heartfelt gratitude for all the doctors, nurses, caregivers, assistants, and medical providers who were invaluable in helping Sam and his family cope with his condition... they are too numerous to mention but will always be in our hearts.

The Sam Hain Memorial Scholarship Fund will provide scholarship support to college-bound Winthrop High School graduates who are:
