Colin's Joy Project

Colin’s Joy Project began after the unexpected death of Colin McGrath in July 2018, just before his 3rd birthday.

His life was full of love, laughter, curiosity, and learning. Always playing, singing, dancing, and asking questions, Colin lived every minute of his brief time with us to the fullest. His laughing eyes, beautiful curls, hilarious voice, and sense of adventure will never be forgotten. His smile made everyone's heart happy.

Though the grief Colin’s family felt was insurmountable, the uprising of kindness they experienced in the wake of his death was comforting and moving. Family, friends, and complete strangers rallied together to lift up the McGrath family and they were inspired to honor his spirit by creating a legacy of JOY in his name.

Since Colin's death, the McGrath family started Colin's Joy Project, which is focused on giving back and creating joy for children and families in Boston. Colin’s Joy Project at the Boston Foundation will be used to make grants that will rebuild local play spaces and fund family-focused programming.
