Mike Eisenson

Michael is the Managing Director and Co-Chairman of Charlesbank Capital Partners, a firm that makes private equity investments primarily on behalf of endowments, foundations and pension funds.

Before co-founding Charlesbank in 1998, Michael was the president of Harvard Private Capital Group, the private investment arm of the Harvard Management Company. Prior to 1986, Michael was with The Boston Consulting Group, a corporate-strategy consulting firm.

Michael is a graduate of Williams College, with a BA in economics summa cum laude, and holds JD and MBA degrees from Yale University.

Michael’s philanthropic leadership positions have included serving as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Williams College, the Vice Chair of the Board of the Berklee College of Music, and Trustee of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, in addition to his role at The Boston Foundation.  He is also a Co-founder, prior Chair, and current member of the Board of Horizons for Homeless Children, an organization that provides high quality early education for Massachusetts children living in deep poverty, and critical services for their families. 

Michael has in recent years received an Outstanding Director Award from the Financial Times for his corporate board work, the James Pallotta Award for impact on the lives of children facing adversity from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts, the National Association of Corporate Directors Award for Leadership in Nonprofit Governance, and an Honorary Doctorate from Williams College. 

Michael and his wife Barbara live in Boston.  They have four children and a growing number of grandchildren.
