The Boston Foundation's Grassroots Strategy in partnership with Boston Indicators and the Greater Boston Immigrant Defense Fund will release a detailed briefing to the general public highlighting the recent immigration-related developments such as: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, Public Charge, the termination of Temporary Protected Status, and changes to humanitarian protection programs for refugees and asylum seekers.
The Greater Boston Immigrant Defense Fund, part of the Delivering on the Dream national funding network, is a public-private partnership and funder collaborative that works to increase education and access to legal services to defend its many immigrant communities, refugees, and temporary status holders. The Fund was launched in 2017 by Mayor Walsh, the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation, and the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute as a pilot program, awarding over $1.1 million in support to legal services providers and nonprofit community partners, to build the region's capacity to protect and defend immigrant rights.
