Protecting Our Neighbors: TBF Giving Guide

February 2, 2026

As we watch the targeting of immigrants and refugees spread fear, violence and hardship in communities across the country, we have heard from many donors seeking to support and defend immigrants and refugees here in Massachusetts. Our Meeting the Moment: Sustaining Families Fund provides an opportunity for donors seeking to pool resources in partnership with TBF, we encourage you also to donate directly to these and other organizations responding to protect the rights and provide for the needs of Greater Boston’s immigrant communities.
Agencia ALPHA
A grant to Agencia ALPHA, one of the few Boston-based organizations offering both legal immigration services and community organizing, would provide holistic support to the immigrant community. As organizations see an increase in predatory legal actions, there is urgency to fund trusted organizations such as Agencia ALPHA that can service the high volume of people seeking legal support.

Asian American Resource Workshop
A grant to the Asian American Resource Workshop would support an organization that is considered a political home for pan-Asian communities in Greater Boston. They are member-led and committed to building grassroots' power through political education, creative expression, and issue-based and neighborhood organizing.

Boston Immigration Justice Accompaniment Network (BIJAN)
A grant to BIJAN would help to provide accompaniment, which can include support in court or at ICE check-ins, legal referrals, fundraising for bond or legal fees, letters of support, logistical assistance with paperwork or bond payments, and more, while also providing other wrap-around services such as housing support.
To support BIJAN through your DAF, recommend a grant to Beyond Bond & Legal Defense Fund (EIN: 85-0974406) on behalf of BIJAN.

Centro Presente
A grant to Centro Presente would help to provide legal assistance, education, and leadership empowerment programming for the immigrant community, while advocating for the rights of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, as well as Salvadoran, Honduran, and Haitian Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recipients.

Greater Boston Legal Services, Asian Outreach Unit
A grant to The Asian Outreach Center at GBLS would help provide guidance, referral services, and free legal assistance to the nearly 1,000 low-income Asian immigrants that the center supports each year. They are a gateway to legal services and the legal system for their low-income, Asian clients, who count on them for the most basic needs for themselves and their families.
GBLS can also receive general operating grants to support the free civil (non-criminal) legal assistance the provide to low-income individuals and families in and around Boston.

Immigrant Family Services Institute (IFSI)
A grant to IFSI would support immigrant community integration through a holistic and culturally competent lens. Over the last few years, IFSI has experienced unprecedented growth and provides critical services, such as legal assistance and advocacy, wellness and counseling, youth empowerment, education, and workforce development, to over 11,000 families each year.

LUCE Network
A grant to LUCE network would support their coalition of immigrant-led, grassroots organizations working to keep communities across Massachusetts safe by operating a rapid response hotline to verify ICE presence, providing bystander and know-your-rights trainings, and connecting those directly impacted with resources, accompaniment, and support. As ICE aggression through surveillance, raids, and abductions continues to grow in Massachusetts, the LUCE network needs more resources to strengthen their organizational capacity.
To support LUCE through your DAF, recommend a grant to Neighbor to Neighbor (EIN: 04-3507716) on behalf of the LUCE Immigrant Justice Network of MA.

Mabel Center
A grant to the Mabel Center would help to provide pro bono legal services to asylum-seeking families that have been separated, detained in family detention centers, or subjected to expedited removal through the dedicated docket. Mabel Center is the only legal organization in the Boston area providing pro se services for emergency asylum filings, and the Center is currently assisting over 700 clients.

Political Asylum Immigration Representation Project
A grant to PAIR would help them provide free legal services to asylum seekers and promote the rights of detained immigrants. Their services include: free legal representation of asylum seekers and detained immigrants, parole representation to request a client’s release from ICE, detention intakes for individuals held in ICE custody, helping assess fear or danger if the individual is deported to their home country, and bond hearings to represent a detained immigrant’s case.

We know also that many donors are looking for organizations to support in Minneapolis and Maine. We have listed two organizations sourced from our community foundation colleagues below, and our philanthropy team has additional resources for supporting organizations in both communities. Please reach out to donorservices@tbf.org for more information.

The OneMPLS Fund is the Minneapolis Community Foundation’s responsive fund made to pool resources in order to quickly respond to community needs. Funding will be distributed in the coming weeks to support organizations meeting immediate basic needs such as food and housing for individuals and families impacted by the ICE surge.

Immigration Legal Advocacy Project is Maine’s only statewide immigration legal services organization and essential for providing legal information and support of those detained. ILAP is responding very quickly to an online form where people are requesting legal assistance. They are coordinating with partners in Maine, Minnesota and Texas for the best response in Maine.

For TBF Donor Advised Fund holders: you may submit a grant to any of these organizations through the Donor Portal. If you have questions, please reach out to our Donor Services team at donorservices@tbf.org.
