Issue to be Addressed:
Utilize Education, Social Skills, Business and Sports to
develop a well rounded individual that will become a
positive contributor to society. The collaboration will
achieve the project goal by utilizing:
Assessment tools/class time
Social skill – group projects, industry session,
Entrepreneurship, finance and mentorship
Nutrition, physical fitness

Project Proposed:
The goal is to encourage and support the healthy
development of youth by creating a collaborative network
of athletics, vocational entrepreneurship and life skill
services. These much needed services will provide the
tools necessary to attain a positive healthy progression into
adulthood. Sports and training programs are fundamental
to the development of a healthy mind and body.

Role of Collaboration:
The role of DMC Contractors is teaching the young men in
the program on the fundamentals of painting landscaping
and carpentry. In addition to the classroom instructions,
the youth will then begin hands on training program. The
training program will become an ongoing mentoring
program that will concentrate on both the marketable skill
of construction and the business component from writing a
business plan, marketing, finance and budget. The goal is
to develop a young entrepreneur.

The role of the collaboration is to teach entrepreneurship.
Develop transferable skills and to aide the youth in self
awareness and development by providing them with a
network of resources that will allow them to understand
their individually therefore allowing them to use better
judgment in their daily activities.

Impact:
The prize would better enable the collaboration to improve
the lives and future of black and brown boys ages 9-15 in
Mattapan, Roxbury and Dorchester by instilling a can do
attitude by allowing them to become involved in the over-
all self development journey from childhood to adulthood,
while elevating community involvement through
displaying pride in self and reaching out to other youth in
their neighborhoods.
