Big Business Network Inc | City of Ideas
Issue to be Addressed:
Our youth struggle with their self-esteem and disposition in the inner city. This project is directly addressing these issues by exposing these youth to positive situations in which they can be successful. In a capitalist society, the ability to generate revenue equates success. In other words, the more money you make, the better your status as an individual. Our youth understand this concept and they also understand when they are lacking the necessary resources to earn a better status. This disposition perpetuates a negative self image because knowing you are poor with seemingly no way to generate wealth, is not something most people desire. We understand this thought process and that is why we are dedicated to changing the perception inner city youths have on life. We believe if you change how these young people think, you have a chance to motivate them to become better citizens.
Big Business Network Inc. is a project which teaches young men in grades 4th - 8th the fundamentals of business and investing, as well as the fundamentals of basketball. We are looking to expand our program to include sewing instruction as well as a male choir. We believe in order to give our students the best well rounded experience, we need to incorporate the arts. With an expanded curriculum, we give our students an even better chance to be inspired by someone in our talented network.
Role of Collaboration:
Anthony D. Perkins Community Center- They will provide the facilities for this program to run.
Big Business Network Inc.- Will handle the curriculum. They are responsible for coordinating this entire project.
Dorchester Collegiate Academy - they will provide students and increase visibility and awareness of Big Business Network's mission to its faculty and families of its students.
A Collaborate Boston prize will help tremendously on many levels. First, you need funding to operate and carry out the mission. Second, we have the staff, students, and volunteers but financial assistance will help us acquire the resources to fulfill our mission in a qualitative way. Third, it will enable us to gain more visibility. With better resources and more visibility, we have the potential to continue to grow fast but at a more efficient rate. This idea gives us optimism because the more we are able to grow and maintain our quality, more inner city youths will benefit from our growth.

Big Business Network Inc. teaches young men in grades 4th - 8th the fundamentals of business, investing, and basketball. Founder Kendric Price had views of creating a network of like minded individuals who were all positively motivated. Price attributes his success to his early exposure to positive situations and modeled a program after the better parts of his upbringing. Price is a former professional basketball player, starred in "The Last Shot" which is a full feature Boston-based film, financial analyst, accomplished musician, and graduated from the University of Michigan in three years. He started this program because he understands the value of having a tangible example of positivity in a community that needs it the most.
