Mel King    1928-2023

Today, we remember Mel King, whose image provided the backdrop for the cover of our 2020 Annual Report. The mural in his honor at Madison Park High School – and his message of determination, strength, resilience and community – seemed the perfect setting for a cover recognizing the generation of leaders shaping a new Boston in the post-pandemic era. His impact on the city will not be forgotten.

Great Migration to Global Immigration: A Profile of Black Boston

This new report analyzes the region’s unique and growing intra-Black diversity, maps how residential patterns have shifted, and details how disparities by income and wealth manifest across Black communities. Discussion at the event will unpack what these trends mean for our shared efforts to move forward toward justice. The event will include music, food, drink and opportunities to connect at receptions both before and after the program.
