Greater Boston's affordable housing crisis is nothing if not well-documented. Over the last several years, there has been significant research about the state of housing production in the Greater Boston Region.
In 2001, The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston, along with several other partners, provided a first-ever accounting of the housing stock in the region. This report identified a significant need for more affordable housing units.
In 2003, the Boston Foundation and the Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) commissioned a five-year assessment project called Greater Housing Report Cards to be done by the Center for Urban and Regional Policy (CURP) at Northeastern University. They are designed to carefully measure the progress toward meeting the region's housing goals.
