  Eighty-three percent of the charter public schools in Boston produced better results in math and reading than comparable Boston public schools in the six academic years ending in 2011, a Stanford University researcher told an audience at the Boston Foundation May 6, noting that they were “the first charter sector in the country to achieve this.”

• Boston Foundation announces nearly $30 million in quarterly grant activity

  The Boston Foundation Board of Directors today approved $2,010,500 in single and multi-year discretionary grants, nearly $1.9 million in other grants released through various Boston Foundation-sponsored initiatives, and acknowledged $25.6 million in grant payments disbursed since the December meeting of the Board through the Foundation’s Donor Advised Funds.
