Grantmaking Initiatives

BOA photo

In addition to our competitive grant programs, the Boston Foundation distributes a significant amount of funds through special issue-focused initiatives. These initiatives are created when the Foundation, often in partnership with other funders, sets aside resources to address particular issues, frequently over a multi-year period. The funding criteria and application process vary by initiative.

Current initiatives are:

The Boston Opportunity Agenda

The Boston Public Schools Arts Expansion Fund at EdVestors

Bruce J. Anderson Foundation

Brother Thomas Fellowship Program

The Catalyst Fund

CHAMPS Boston

Collaborate Boston

Culture for Change

The Equality Fund

Expressing Boston

Food and Fuel Fund

The Mystic River Watershed Environmental Fund

My Summer in the City

SkillWorks: Partners for a Productive Workforce

StreetSafe Boston
