Massachusetts Health Council reports on health trends

The Massachusetts Health Council’s 2004 health status trends report provides social, economic, environmental and health risk behavior indicators as well as suggested policy perspectives and directions.

Among the key trends it reports are the following: 

  • Falling number of cigarette packs sold per capita for the period 1990-2002
  • Rising percentage of adults who are overweight for the period 1990-2002
  • Rising number of violent crimes for the period 1991-2002
  • Stable number of suicides for the period 1996-2002
  • Stable number of DWI cases for the period 1990-2002
  • Falling number of new AIDS cases for the period 1995-2002
  • Rising number of new Hepatitis C cases for the period 1992-2002
