The Boston Foundation has developed specific strategies for each of its Goals and Objectives, which include: background on the problem and key data that relates to it; the approach the Foundation is taking to address the problem; and the ways in which we will be measuring success.
Goal: Greater Boston residents are successful and thriving:
- Improve outcomes for Boston’s residents across the education pipeline;
- Increase the health and wellness of Greater Boston residents.
Goal: Greater Boston neighborhoods and communities are vibrant, safe and affordable:
- Increase the livability, affordability and safety of Greater Boston neighborhoods;
- Enhance civic and cultural vibrancy in Greater Boston;
- Increase job growth and economic equity and competitiveness in Greater Boston.

While the Foundation focuses most of its competitive grantmaking on these objectives and strategies, the Foundation is also interested in innovative approaches to emerging community issues and makes targeted and more modest investments in such efforts.
