The Bruce J. Anderson Foundation is a supporting organization of the Boston Foundation. It makes awards for preventive programs, direct services, and new initiatives in the fields of:

• mental health (focusing on young adults, treatment, research and suicide prevention);
• environmental protection;
• historic and archival preservation; and
• the arts.

The Bruce J. Anderson Foundation focuses its grantmaking in two geographical areas:

• Cape Ann (Gloucester, Rockport, Essex and Manchester-by-the-Sea), and
• the Nashua River Watershed (Harvard, Ayer, Groton, Pepperell, Shirley and Townsend).

Grants range from $5,000 to $12,000, and the typical grant is less than $10,000. Grants are made once yearly through a Request for Proposal process.

2011 Grant Cycle
The cover letter and Request for Proposals (RFP) for the 2011 Bruce J. Anderson Foundation grant cycle will be available by December 20, 2010.  Please check back here at that time.  Applications will be due in early February of 2011. 

In addition, two information sessions will be held in early January - one in Groton and one in Gloucester.  Both sessions cover the same material and offer a chance to hear about the Bruce J. Anderson Foundation’s grantmaking priorities and to answer any questions you may have.  The schedule for these two information sessions will be available in December also.
